Match Report
Langley Park School for Boys Boys-U12B vs  Trinity School, Croydon
On: Saturday, 23 Sep 2017
Venue: Away

The U12B team took to the field for the first time as a squad to play at Trinity in what we knew would be one of, if not the toughest fixture of the season. The boys kicked up hill first half and were told that if they were still in the game at half-time, they would have the momentum in the second half to compete. Trinity started with some strong running and excellent handling skills and following 2 well worked tries, they took a 10-0 lead. Langley responded with some excellent rugby of their own and Joe Lander scored smartly in the corner to reduce the arrears. Trinity then scored a third and one right on the stroke of half-time to leave the score at 20-5. If it had not been for some outstanding tackling from Langley, it could have been a lot more.

The half-time team talk was full of positivity. Langley had produced a competitive display against a strong side and with attacking downhill they were still in the game only being 3 tries down. The focus was on line speed, defending well and being positive when driving forward.

Langley produced a second half that will live long in the memory. Some enormous tackling and defensive line speed meant that Langley had all of the territory and forced Trinity into kicking. The battling spirit shown was second to none. Tries were scored from Jacob Brome, Adam Frini, Freddie Fletcher (magnificently assisted from Charlie Notman) and Ben Bahadur and one try correctly disallowed for a hand off by Adam Frini. The score was 30-25 to Trinity with 2 minutes remaining. Langley huffed and puffed, but Trinity defended resolutely to see out the win. A 20-10 second half victory was inspiring by Langley. Every single one of the boys can be proud of their efforts with stand-out displays from Tyler McKenzie, Ben Bahadur and Siddy Zihni. Both teams left to a big round of applause in what was one of the best year 7 B team games that I can remember watching.

We move onto another tough game against Ravenswood on Friday, with the same attitude and commitment required.

Thanks to all the boys and their parents for playing and supporting.
